My client are a privately owned and successful biopharmaceutical based in West Germany. Due to the growth of the
company, a unique opportunity has arisen for a business development manager to join the team. The position is a new one in the company and consequently the successful candidate will be highly visible and will work very closely with the management board of the company. The role is an international one and will require significant travel.

The Role:

  • Support establishment and maintenance of the overall policies and goals for the company`s business development
  • Evaluate and implement new business and partnering opportunities
  • Analyse competitors
  • Work with executive board, product development, IP/legal groups to align with the company's growth strategy and attend project team meetings to guide project teams commercially
  • Develop and manage relationships to licensing partners from large pharmaceutical and large biotechnology companies
  • In collaboration with the CEO and COO, devise licensing and business models that enable us successfully establish strategic partnerships and alliances including development of term sheets, business proposals and quotations; assist CEO and COO in negotiations
  • Manage business relationship with all major suppliers and negotiate supply terms in conjunction with CEO and COO
  • Follow up business enquiries
  • Represent at relevant conferences through preparing and giving presentations, holding partnering discussions and networking
  • Co-ordinate and participate in due diligence of licensing opportunities

The Requirements:

  • Scientific education: graduate or post-graduate immunologist, biologist or biochemist
  • Not less than 2-3 years of experience in a licensing business development role in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical company
  • Achiever, results orientated
  • Persuasive and a good negotiator; proven record of selling and negotiation skills
  • Strong communication, verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Good people skills and a team-player
  • Be able to work on his/her own initiative; self-motivated, resilient
  • Analytical, detailed oriented and computer literate (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); positive and determined approach to analysing new business opportunities
  • Strong initiative, creativity, inspiration, tenacity, drive, empathy, commitment, dedication, enthusiasm
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected
  • Fluent in English and German language
  • Must be willing to travel significantly and to work flexible hours;
